POSITION: Technical Manager

BUSINESS UNIT: Moolmans

LOCATION: Taparko, Burkina Faso

REPORTING TO: Contract Manager

JOB SUMMARY STATEMENT: Estimates material, labour and overhead costs to establish costs of products required for mining execution. Conducts pricing comparisons and feasibility studies and contributes to tender preparation. Ensure that the project is executed on time, profitable and within budget. Will also look after safety and technical systems on site.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES):

  • Assist the Contract Manager to ensure that the Project is managed according to the tender document
  • Optimization of resources, production and cost management
  • Liaise with the Client on contractual matters and establish good relationships
  • Responsible for short, medium and long-term planning and mine schedules
  • Obtain and study the tender document
  • Attend all necessary planning and other relevant meetings
  • Liaise with Suppliers
  • Measure and calculate quantities of equipment, bills required
  • Allocate timeframes to the respective project phases and activities
  • Look after Health & safety and produce reports which will be sent to HO
  • Look after all technical systems (Pit Control, AMT etc.)

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Tertiary Qualification in Mining Engineering or alternatively relevant B. Degree, with project management, planning, costing and scheduling experience

EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in project management in an Opencast Mining Environment
  • 5 years’ experience in cost estimation and cost accounting
  • Valid Drivers’ license
  • No criminal record

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Advanced Computer skills and literacy, especially Excel, Word, Powerpoint and MS Projects applications
  • Knowledge of contract law and contractual matters
  • Advanced SURPAC / XPAC / MODELMAKER abilities
  • TELLPAC / FPC knowledge and ability
  • Strong numerical and verbal skills, technical aptitude
